Sorry things have been quiet around here for a bit longer than we intended. KellyAnne and I are both full-time homeschooling moms along with running Humanist Homeschoolers, HHH, and The Thinkers, and as you can probably imagine, our lives get pretty hectic.
We haven’t just been planning for the upcoming school year, though. KellyAnne has been chatting with a reporter from Religion News Daily to explain why some of us prefer our homeschooling sans religion. The article was picked up by several other news outlets, including The Washington Post. While the article isn’t perfect (I’m fairly certain the yearly revenue of the homeschooling industry is somewhat more than six hundred and fifty dollars, and my last name is NOT Scott, as was originally posted) it’s an interesting look at secular homeschooling, along with some lovely pictures of KellyAnne and her beautiful family.
Our Indiegogo campaign has now come to a close, and while we didn’t meet our original (and very ambitious) goal, we still managed to raise a very respectable $390, along with the additional $200 from the lovely and generous ladies at Secular Woman. That will allow us to send out a lot of books. Thank you so very much to all of you who opened your hearts and your pocketbooks to allow us to help so many in need.
Our goal now is to begin sorting and shipping materials for the upcoming school year. We’ve received an incredible amount of donated books, and now we’ll begin to match curricula to families. We still have more materials on-hand than requests, so please let us know if there’s something you need for your family. And tell your friends!
